Storyboarding Scriptwriting Ilustration Animation Voice-over

Project Overview

When authenticity
matters.

Sixteen By Nine partnered with the Indigenous Business Integrity Register (IBIR) to create a compelling animated explainer that communicates their vital mission — promoting integrity and transparency within Indigenous business procurement.

This was full-service production from concept to delivery: storyboarding, scripting, bespoke illustration, voice-over, and final animation. Every element was built from scratch, custom-created for IBIR alone — no stock imagery, no templates, no shortcuts.

  • 100% bespoke — every illustration hand-drawn, no stock imagery or templates
  • Full production pipeline — storyboard to final delivery in under 14 days
  • Cultural authenticity embedded into every creative decision from brief to final frame

IBIR — Bespoke hand-drawn animation

The Challenge

Complex work.
Tight deadline.

IBIR's work sits at the intersection of policy, community, and commerce — communicating it clearly and authentically to a diverse audience is no small brief. Add a sub-two-week production window covering every stage of creation, and this demanded flawless project management alongside creative craft.

Challenge One

Compressed timeline

From initial client meeting to final delivery in under two weeks — covering every production stage without sacrificing quality or creative integrity.

Challenge Two

Authentic representation

IBIR's mission required genuine cultural sensitivity — the animation needed to honour their purpose and the communities they serve, not simplify or tokenise it.

Challenge Three

100% bespoke production

The decision to create every illustration by hand — avoiding stock or templates entirely — was the right creative call but required skilled execution under significant time pressure.

Production Process

Concept to screen.
Every stage, in-house.

01
Stage One

Storyboarding

Before a single frame was drawn, the entire narrative was mapped visually — shot by shot, scene by scene. The storyboard served as both creative brief and production roadmap, ensuring every team member understood the vision before production commenced.

02
Stage Two

Scriptwriting

IBIR's mission is complex — sitting at the intersection of policy, community, and commercial integrity. The script needed to communicate that clearly to a broad audience without oversimplifying the purpose or the people behind it. Every word was written to work in sync with the visuals, not compete with them.

03
Stage Three

Bespoke Illustration

Every visual element was hand-drawn from scratch. No stock libraries, no pre-built asset packs — every character, environment, and graphic element created specifically for IBIR. This was the most time-intensive stage of production, and the one that gave the final piece its distinctive, authentic character.

04
Stage Four

Animation

With illustrations complete, the animation brought each scene to life — pacing, transitions, and movement all calibrated to the rhythm of the script and voice-over. The result is a piece that feels fluid and purposeful, with nothing wasted on screen.

05
Stage Five

Voice-over

Professional voice-over recording and audio mix completed the production — delivered in sync with the final animation to create a cohesive, broadcast-ready piece from first frame to last.

Behind the Production

Every frame
a deliberate choice.

Results & Outcomes

Delivered before deadline.
Beyond expectation.

A distinctive animated piece that authentically represents IBIR's mission and values — completed across every production stage in under two weeks, without a single shortcut.

The result is a piece that honours the purpose of the organisation and the communities they serve — something that could only ever belong to IBIR, because every element of it was built for them alone.

100% bespoke

Hand-drawn illustrations — not a single stock image or template used.

14days

From first briefing to final delivery. Without compromise.

"Mate, this video is amazing! Your team killed it!"
