Storyboarding & Illustration Scriptwriting Animation & SFX Voice-over Audio Post Production

Project Overview

When tech needs
a personality.

Wolk Technology Solutions had a genuinely compelling product — Amazon AWS cloud workspaces that made remote onboarding seamless across borders. The challenge wasn't the technology. It was making a technical cloud service feel relevant, human, and memorable to an entirely new market.

We built a 60-second animated world from scratch — two offices, two accents, two Kevins — that turned the complexity of cloud data transfer into a story anyone could follow and nobody could forget. Every character, every prop, every thought bubble: hand-drawn, no stock, no templates.

  • 100% bespoke — every illustration hand-drawn from concept to final frame
  • Full pipeline in-house — script, storyboard, illustration, animation, voice-over, audio post
  • Complex cloud technology communicated in 60 seconds with humour and clarity

Wolk Technology Solutions — 60-second animated explainer

The Challenge

Disrupt the category.
Win the market.

The ICT industry's typical approach to marketing is technology-driven and personality-free. Wolk wanted something different — a way to introduce their cloud solution to a brand-new market that would cut through the noise and connect with real people, not just procurement teams. The brief demanded creativity and courage in equal measure.

Challenge One

Disrupting a dry category

ICT marketing is traditionally technical, corporate, and forgettable. Wolk wanted to stand apart — to lead with personality and humour rather than specs and feature lists.

Challenge Two

A new market, zero awareness

Wolk was Melbourne-based entering New Zealand cold. The animation had to introduce the brand, communicate the product, and build instant affinity with a Kiwi audience — all in 60 seconds.

Challenge Three

Complex technology, simple story

Amazon AWS cloud onboarding is inherently technical. The creative had to make it feel effortless and human — without dumbing it down or losing the product message.

Production Process

Built from scratch.
Every stage, in-house.

01
Stage One

Script & Concept Development

The script was built around a simple, universal truth — the friction of working across borders, and the relief when technology removes it. Two characters, Aussie Kev and NZ Kevin, were created to embody that story: both named Kevin, both misunderstanding each other's accents, both brought together effortlessly by Wolk Cloud. Every line was written to earn its place in a 60-second window.

02
Stage Two

Storyboard & Offline Animation

The entire narrative was mapped frame by frame before a single final illustration was produced. The offline storyboard established the visual rhythm, scene transitions, and character acting — a complete production blueprint that ensured every creative decision was intentional before animation commenced. Three distinct sequences: Opening, Aussie-NZ dialogue, and Cloud resolution.

03
Stage Three

Bespoke Illustration

Every element was hand-drawn from scratch — two fully illustrated office environments loaded with cultural detail, character animations with thought bubbles, close-up props including the iconic Aussie and NZ coffee mugs, world maps, and the Wolk cloud sequences. No stock assets, no pre-built libraries. The Melbourne office in Wolk-orange, the Auckland office in Wolk-grey — distinctive worlds built to tell the same story.

04
Stage Four

Animation & Sound Effects

With illustrations finalised, animation brought the world to life — character movement, scene transitions, thought bubble gags, and the data transfer sequences all timed precisely to the script and voice-over pacing. Sound effects were layered in throughout to punctuate the comedy and reinforce key moments, including the satisfying "ding" of a completed transfer.

05
Stage Five

Voice-over & Audio Post Production

Authentic Aussie and Kiwi voice talent brought Kev and Kevin to life — the entire comedic premise hinges on the performances. Audio sweetening and re-stripe in post production delivered a broadcast-ready final mix, with voice-over, SFX, and music balanced to complement the visual storytelling without competing with it.

Results & Outcomes

A category disrupted.
A market introduced.

The finished piece gave Wolk something that no other ICT competitor in the New Zealand market had — a brand story with genuine personality. By leading with humour and human connection rather than technical specification, the animation positioned Wolk as a brand that understood its audience before it even mentioned the product.

The result is a piece of work that does what great animation should — entertain first, persuade second, and make the complex feel completely effortless.
